There is a chicken and egg issue in that you can’t get most businesses to sign up until you site is getting decent traffic as reported by 3rd parties like compete.com and Quantcast. I assume these sat primarily get paid ad traffic and have to have a significant budget to get of the ground. Setting a professional site, equipped to use the standard data feeds used to transmit the merchant data to the site and offer free listing for some period of time. Some use data scraping scripts to copy listing from established sites , I don’t know the legal implications of this or if it is a good relationship building move. Most Google results on the subject go back a few years, is it a dying industry? One guy’s experiencehttp://www.askshane.org/revenue-generation/making-money-with-price-comparison-sites.phpSimple stock article on the subjecthttp://tutor2u.net/ebusiness/ebusiness-strategy-price-comparison.htmlA directory of existing comparison siteshttp://www.webduckdesigns.com/paging/website-resources/shopping-sites.php
