2009 mac pro vs workstation pc (price comparison)
coolermaster644 asked:
This a video that i think would be helpful if you are getting a mac cause if you go with my option you can save alot of money by building your own workstation to suit your needs.

@coolermaster644 You can save a **** load of money if you buy the 980x dude. I am planning to.
Dean
would a workstation PC play games good? Nvm JK don’t fucking answer that….
Franklin
i heard u can run os on a really well build pc. id rather have a mac laptop but when it comes to desktops id rather build my own pc
Patricia
@MiKill93
it’s called fashion statement, people buys them because they don’t like to learin about technology and wants to be “cool”.
yes, it sound pathetic, but that’s the truth.

Can someone tell me exactly why macs are so expensive. Ive compared macs and pcs side by side and it doesn’t make any sense
Mac $999
2.1GHz Intel Core Duo
2GB ram
PC $399
2.1GHz Intel Core Duo
2GB ram
There are other things like a better graphics card, hardware, programs and reliability but is the high price even worth it. Ive asked many mac owners why they are better but they only provide pomp answers like:They’re just better. Why are macs double the price of pcs with the same specs?
Denise
@CanIHazPwnage:
1. I don’t think people that buy a Mac Pro or builds a PC as powerful as this is ever going to use iMovie.
2. If you take away the $139 for Windows, and put $149 into the budget, you get OSX, iLife and iWork.
If you get a compatible motherboard, you can run OSX and all that other software.
Hackintosh FTW!!!
PS: PC’s are just as safe from viruses as a Mac if you run OSX.
But I agree that you don’t get the same build quality as a Mac Pro.
I’m not that worried though.
Darrell
Hell ya!
Randy
and its not building a computer ur assembling it together, what r u bob the builder
Keith
im surprised you fall for that crap. its called virus protection and if your building a comp like this then your obviously are not going to be using imovie! But wait thats not all… you can run linux
Allen
1 you dont get the build quality of the mac you dont get os x you dont get a consumer level movie edior with the pc (movie maker doesnt count) and you still have viruses and you get a hell of a lot more with the mac
Cynthia
Exactly
Barry
So basically OSX costs $1633.11. lol
Stella
Haha your right. I am trying to sell my quad sli rig for $1400 and haven’t got a buyer yet but once i get one i am gonna wait for the core i9 which is exposed to be sweet!
Jerome
Forgot to mention the fact that you’d probably be gaming too…meaning a Mac would be useless in that area.
Roommate bought a Mac Pro and is trying to sell it after only a few months of owning it. Unfortunately, the there’s not a good market out there for $5000 used Macs.
Catherine
No i can afford alot more than what i mentioned its just that i can get the exact same performance with this custom workstation that i mentioned and get for about $1600 cheaper and i can overclock.
Ralph
I understand and agree what you are saying but i am not ever going to be buying it from a manufacture i will be building it myself plus if i wanted to i could overclock or upgrade down the road.
Minnie
I bought my Mac Pro in Feb. 2008 and after a year and five months later it’s still worth $3,000, I bought a Dell XPS in 2007 spend over $5,000 for it and a year and one month later it only worth $1,500 see how fast my Dell loss so much value, owning both computer around the same time frame, $1700 is good price but how much of that will you get back at the end, I learn my lesson to never buy a PC over $5,000 it’s not worth it at the end, this is just my opinion and NOT A BASH ON PC
Peggy
In my opinion I will just save up for the Mac Pro, it took me a year to save for mine and I came from a PC, Mac Pro will have better resale value later, You can run all windows/linux/OS10 software but if custom build that you mention is all you can afford then go for it $1700 is a awesome price so when are you going to start building it?
Jean
I came very close to building my own 8 core rig, but ended up going with BOXX in the end, just because their systems come with a standard 3 year warranty, and they offer support for the apps I use, plus I didnt want to have to deal with any unexpected problems with a custom and have to pay out of my own pocket…. but its still a good option.
Lillian
Plus if you are editing most professional editing programs work for pc too.
Angel
This motherboard does have a raid controller on it and the processor does come with stock cooling and with this configuration it also allows you to overclock which makes it perform better than say a 2.26 8 core mac pro.
Leroy
Sorry it has the raid controller on it.
Amanda
You forgetting the keyboard and mouse.
And also the motherboard you selected doesn’t support the raid 0 and 1configuration, the mac pro does… there’s also no bluethoot on your configuration… Does the processor comes with fans?
The next thing to think about is wheter you only want to run windows or also Mac os x. You can’t run both on a PC(with a hack maybe), but on a mac you can.
